Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

What can I say.....my left ITband is hurting!  What is wrong with me????  I am just not made for running marathons!!!!  I am so upset about it.  After my run on Saturday my left, outer tendon has been stabbing me all the way up to my hip.  I have been using a heating pad and it is finally feeling better.  I got on the treadmill on Monday and it help stabbing, so I only ran 3 and got on the rowing machine and bike.

I am going to try running today after a step class at our church and a friend offered to have me come over for pilates today too.  Looks like I am going to have a full exercise day.  Good thing my house is clean so that my husband won't be irritated with me! ha!  I better get something good out for dinner so he won't be feeling neglected since he is working all day!

My fav candy of the year is now out!  The hot cinnamon lips!  YUM!  I love holiday candy!

I have found many of my pains are helped with a hard foam roller. It hurts like heck but the results are generally good.

Have a great day!

Is the IT-band pain by your knee or your hip? I hope this doesn't put you out of commission for too long!

Are you sure this isn't another kickboxing injury? Have you tried the "stick" or a foam roller?

I HATE ITB issues!! Battled them for my first 3 marathons. Use a foam roller, massage - ice doesn't help much. STRETCH like a mad woman too. If it doesn't go away, go get a cortizone shot - seriously the only thing that saved me.

I too swear by my foam roller. I always felt my ITB in my hip, I religiously roll my IT bands with the foam roller and it has fixed my hip issues!! Good luck, I hope it feels better soon.

awww Steam - ITB issues - sorry. i've had them as well and know they can be managed as long as you're diligent about keeping up on the stretches, roller etc. i hope you're doing better today!

If I tried to get irritated about a dirty house, my wife would just make me clean it!

Hope the running went ok, and your leg is feeling better.

I get a lot of good out of the roller. I had ITB issues for quite a while, I would just run less (and slower) until they went away and eventually they went away for good. I think after awhile our tendons and ligaments just adapt.
