Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

After the marathon my left foot and right knee were killing me.  It took me four days before I could even walk normal.  It was Spring Break for my kids the week after the marathon and my hub kept telling me to take the week off.....I think so that he could have a break from my running.  It was driving me crazy to not get out for a run, but I could tell my body did need a break.

I ran in Panguitch, Utah on Friday afternoon and I thought I would run a 5 on Friday and 10 the next morning.  I couldn't run the full five.  I had to stop at 4.3 because my knee and foot were killing me again! Is this normal after a marathon?  I don't remember it taking so long to recover. I am a little afraid to run this morning.  What do I do?  Do I take more time off just to make sure that I am not going to have a longer recovery?  I was worried that I had another stress fracture in my foot, but it is feeling better after a week and only hurts if I run more than a mile. :(

 I need some advice!
