Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

WOOO HOOOO! I took all of your advice yesterday and ran some trails. I didn't have anyone to run with so I took my mace. I wanted to run the Draper BoSho trail, but I was a bit nervous to do it by myself.

I ran from my house up to Bells Canyon Reservoir and back around my house until I hit 3 miles....no pain. I then drove to a trail that is more even and ran 4 there. NO PAIN! I kept waiting for it to hit! It felt so good to be out running without pain today. I can't even say how much I loved it. Great day!

Hooray! Just when I was going to throw you a pity party.

Nice going on the trails. I'm too clumsy for them I think - always end up with twisted ankles.

No pain is great news.

proceed with caution - it's highly addictive... and very enjoyable.

Congrats on getting in some dirt miles. If you are a little scared of running those trails alone I might suggest running the Dimple Dell Rec Area. It's just down the road from you, highly populated, with houses and help very near by. The trail is incredible, wide, and the hills are all runnable. Just something to think about for future outings.

Or

You could just come with us.

I'm glad the trails worked well for your knee! I'll make you a deal...I'll tag along with you if you are brave enough to go with Jun and Scott. Maybe then when they leave us in the dust we can at least hang together :)

RAD...that sounds perfect! The only thing is, are you up for the purple, short-shorties and their shirtless runs?! ha!

Wait - I retract! I retract!

Shoot....too late, I guess we'll just have to let them get far enough ahead no one know they are with us :) AND we don't have to see it.
