Short-Term Running Goals:

Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

Still can't breathe, now I can't breathe out of either nostril, headache, plugged ears...yippee!

Had to take the kids to our Bishop's pool this morning for a church thing.  As I put sunscreen on the 4 year old I turned around and fell on the stairs landing on my back.  I would have normally laughed at myself, but I couldn't breathe and this time it wasn't because of my cold.  It now hurts to even walk. When am I going to catch a break?  I am running at least 10 tomorrow, even if it takes me all day!

I am taking the day off!  I have too many end of year parties today anyway and I am in a bad mood! :(

Sorry about your back. Hopefully it isn't anything serious. Have a fun run tomorrow. I wish I could run 10 right now.

Anytime there is a fall- a day off is in order. Running 10 no matter what tomorrow? What if there is a pack of geese at mile 9? I will be waiting on pins and needles to find out what happens next!

ps- I put my pie recipe on Kelli's blog today. It is avocado pie- yes I know it sounds strange, but it is really good and not overly sweet -makes you feel less guilty about eating more :) I love cooking and eating even more.

Poor Steamy. I hope you feel better.

Ok... Tomorrow is today for me since I just checked the Blog. I'm hoping things are much better for you today! Sounds like you're plate is really full right now and I know how those colds really knock you down both mentally and physically. My suggestion (although I'm no running expert) is to schedule the next few day with short runs (2, 3 or maybe 4 miles at the most). I found when i'm busy or not feeling well I can run these shorter distances with a little more speed and quality and end up feeling better...like i accomplished something. Bottom line is I hope you feel better soon.

You are all so nice...and just what I need! I am having a pity party for myself. My hub (a doc) came home last night and I was in so much pain, I couldn't lay in any position without crying, couldn't walk down the hall without my back feeling like it was in a charlie horse. I haven't been in that much pain, since natural childbirth. He took me to the ER to make sure I didn't break something. No broken bones, but the doc that saw me was a runner. He said that I have to lay flat for 3 to 5 days and that I tore some muscles and tendons in my back...I am so sad! I was just getting back to running since my bursitis and IT band syndrome....I had to sleep on the floor last night on my back. I have to do that for the next 5 days. I hate sleeping on my back! Boo HOO! Okay, I'll try to quit complaining, but I am sooooo MAD and SAD! :(

Dan -- really? Avocado pie? Okay, if you say it is good, I will try it. I do love avocados. I was at a farm with my kids yesterday for a picnic and there were geese all over the place honking. I kept looking at them and laughing and thinking of you.

I heard that Steam. Don't try and change it.

Haha! Dang it! I really need to learn how to photoshop! I have some good Vegas pics that just need a little work! :)

From Lily on Sat, Jun 11, 2011 at 12:48:58 from 67.199.178.210

Wow. Seems like there is a little black rain cloud following you right now. Bad luck Steam! Hoping for better days for you! To many people keep getting injured on FRB. This is getting weird.

From Dan on Sat, Jun 11, 2011 at 15:11:40 from 24.209.83.20

Now I would have LOVED to seen that picture. I will send my daughter over to teach you photoshop, I know basics, but she is amazing with it.

Wow! So sorry to hear about your back. That is horrible. I hope you get feeling better quick. Yeah, we need a pity party, although I did run today without any pain. Pep and donuts is what you need for sure.

From Predog on Mon, Jun 13, 2011 at 13:56:30 from 24.10.142.244

Sorry to see you were injured. I HATE getting injured, and especially when it had nothing to do with running. Just take this time to rest up and then you'll be all rested and ready to go when you can run again.
