Short-Term Running Goals:

Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

Long-Term Running Goals:

Ran Boston on April 14, 2012!

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

Ran 5 around Little Cottonwood and then hiked up to Bells Canyon Reservoir and back at a pathetically slow pace! I was going to run 8 and then up to the Reservoir but only ran 5 because my knee was hurting and I wasn't feeling it today.  Crap run day...no energy! Wondered why I even run today! Hopefully I will start feeling better soon. ZERO DRIVE...What is wrong with me?  I didn't even enjoy going up to the lake today and that is usually the best part of my day!

No worries. You are still trying to recover from your marathon. Way to get out there and get it done. It was sooooo nice out today.

A crap run is better than no run, thats what I say! :) At least you got out there and did it! Nice work.

I say figure out the knee thing. You don't want it to get worse! Maybe do some cross training until it feels better.

I think you are still in the post-race funk. I get like that where running just isn't that enjoyable because the energy just isn't 100% yet. You feel good, you think, but it goes away as soon as you get out there a mile. Take it easy the rest of the week and you'll feel better on Monday.

Bummer that you had no drive. Hope your drive comes back soon.

Sorry to hear about the knee... hopefully it's better this AM! :)

Must say the venue for your run sounds lovely... I sooooo wish I could be back running in AZ (lived there for 2 years and so miss the desert)... UT sounds wonderful, too...

+1 to the awesome picture of you and hubby!

KristenL That isn't my hub! He is my 21 yr old nephew that takes pity on me and runs with me. We do all of our long runs together. He is 6'1 and I am 5'4, so I feel like a chihuahua running with a Great Dane when we run together. He runs races with me but he only runs once a week and that is with me. He just ran the SL marathon in 3:30. If he actually trained a bit, he would be fast! ha!

Woops! Sorry bout the confusion there. ;)

Very cool that you run together... funny analogy... and a 3:30 on one run a week? Whoa... amazing. What does he eat? Maybe he'll share his secrets?! :)
