Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

My legs were sore after my extremely difficult run yesterday. :)  Ran to the BC trailhead to head up to the lake.  It was such a beautiful morning.  The wildflowers are in full bloom.  I brought my mace but the trail was full of people today which made it hard to get around some of them.

There were so many cute, young girls on the trail today.  I am thinking I need to bring my nephews up with me to run the trail on Saturdays to help them meet some cute chics!

I was at a wedding yesterday morning.  My nephew was married in the Salt Lake Temple.  It was such a beautiful day.  Elder Russell Nelson performed the marriage.  His advice to the newly married couple, Matthew 6:33, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." I kept thinking of this all yesterday and this morning as I ran up the trail.  I have been in a bit of a rut lately.  I need to be better in so many ways.  My new resolve is scriptures everyday...no excuses!  They always seem to make me feel better all around.  I need to put the most important things first.

Love the new resolve, and for the record, we all need to be better. Sounds like a great place to run (I mean the flowers, not the cute chics or mace for that matter)! :)

How did you get in the temple if you're not reading your scriptures every day?!?! I'm telling your bishop!

The mace should have made it easy to get around the people. They'll move when you start spraying.

Nice recovery after the long run on Friday - that should help!

YOu're running sounds so plesant with all the flowers and such. All I seem to see is the asphalt in front of me! I often listen to scripture from my I-Phone as I run my slower runs. (Well, actually not so much lately since every run has been somewhat grueling because of the heat, knee, etc. and I can't seem to concentrate on what's being said.) Anyway, you might try that or just come to my Blog each day for your scripture

I used to read the scriptures while I rode the bike almost everyday. Somehow I just don't think I can get myself to read the scriptures while running. I need a little something with a beat to keep me going!

Oh...it is so beautiful here. We have mountains all around us. I love it here!
