Short-Term Running Goals:

Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

My 13yr old has been a stinker about going to swim team in the mornings.  I told him it is either swim team or me for one hour every day.  He chose me.  I am hoping after a week of me, he will be begging to go back to swim team in the mornings.

We ran around the Crestwood trail before my two youngest had swim lessons.  James was huffing and puffing and complaining.  I was pushing my two younger ones in our double jogger.  After a half lap, we ran into a friend of mine.  He turned around and started running with us.  When I had to leave for swimming lessons, he finished up James' workout for me by running him up hills and running more laps.  He brought James to the swimming pool for me and his face was red and splotchy!  James said he wasn't feeling very good.  He thought he was going to throw up! haha!

That is great you ran into a friend that pushed your son to exhaustion! lol My son turns 14 next week, I ran 5 miles on a hilly trail with him this morning! A year ago, he could barely run a mile & hated running, but took an interest this Spring! Yea, & he is doing cross country this fall as a freshman. I am afraid by next Spring I may be chasing him instead of pushing him! :)

Very nice parenting job, especially getting somebody else to finish the session for you.
