Short-Term Running Goals:

Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

Long-Term Running Goals:

Ran Boston on April 14, 2012!

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

It is toooooo cold to run outside this morning!

20 minutes on the bike

1 mile warm up

5 in 40:47

walked .6 until my hr on the dreadmill was up.

I thought I was going to puke after my 5 miler...I did sprints at 6.6 to 6 min miles and jogged at 8.5 to 9 min miles in between to cool down.  I won't lie...sad, but true, the 8 min mile ave. kicked my trash!  I don't like running on the treadmill, but it does make me pay more attention to my speed.  I'm getting in a little bit better shape.  It is going to take me until Boston to get there.  I hope my 4 pounds comes off along the way! :)

I watched the new Fame while I ran. I bought it for my daughter to watch because she loves dance.  I thought I would watch it first just to make sure it was okay for her to see....BORING!  I think that made my treadmill hour longer than normal! ha!

Baby look at me...and tell me what you see!

Yeah, not a Fame fan myself.

Nice job getting those sprints done. I hate them, well, no I don't. I like how they make me feel afterward and when I see results from them, but doing them is pure torture sometimes!! Don't worry, it will get easier.

NICE speedwork on the TM!!! I have more than 4 lbs to loose! Your fitness is coming back. And there's plenty time to train before Boston!!! :)

I can see the progress you're making...keep it up! I'm thinking about running my next long run on the TM so I can control all of the varables. I seem to have lost my confidence now and the TM helps me be confident in what I can do....So it's not always bad thing :-)

Oh man, anything that makes a treadmill run seem longer is not good! But oh so thankful for those machines when it is this cold outside, huh?

GREAT job on the workout! That is some great speed! How long were your intervals? I am trying to figure out what to do tomorrow on the TM so give me some inspiration here!!!

I hate when they put terrible things on the TV at the gym. I had to run on a TM a lot last year, and they would always play Oprah or The View when I was there. So I was tired AND wanted to gouge out my own eyeballs.

Way to get it done though!

Steam8 I'm telling you the secret to tm running is watching 24 and seeing Jack Bauer save the nation. Try it!

Joe's stock just went up in my book. Rye's stayed the same.

Fame? Isn't that a David Bowie song?

From Rye on Tue, Dec 06, 2011 at 23:37:44 from 75.174.13.127

Oprah and The View? What do I have to watch to increase my stock?
