Short-Term Running Goals:

Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

I was planning on getting up early for a run since my visiting teachers were coming at 8 this morning.  I woke up early and thought I would just rest my eyes for a minute and the next thing I heard was the doorbell at 8am. haha! I hit the door at the same time as my kids.  My hub left for work at 6:30 and the rest of us lazy slackers slept until 8!

After my hour visit I got ready for the run.  It was a HOT one today.  I don't know if it was just too hot for people to be out or if they know me by now and when they saw that I was coming they jumped into a ditch or bush to make sure that they didn't have to waste their time talking to me today! :)

I felt great until 6.45 and then I felt as if I was carrying around an extra 200lbs!  I was exhausted!  It didn't help that I have a half mile of a hill that is about 1.5 miles from my home that looks and feels as if you are running straight up.  I goosed it the last .25 and then stopped at the stop sign that is always the end of the run for me.  After I stopped I thought I was going to pass out.  Everything started to get dark and I was a soaked mess.  I got goosebumps all over me and thought I was going to puke!  It is only 2 months from St. George marathon.  How in the heck am I going to get my butt in shape to run that in Boston time?   Dang!

Yep, it was too hot today! You are so funny! Nope, no one saw you coming and took cover! Seriously, if we lived closer, I would've run with you and make sure you run slow and nice and talk up a storm so you wouldn't nearly passed out or puke at the top of that nasty hill! :-)

did you carry water or drink plenty? the heat and humidity really zaps ya or make us all a soaky mess1 :)

2 months is plenty of time to get our hinney in shape! You are already in Boston-time shape! Really you are1 :)

Heat and humidity do some crazy things to the body, for sure. You'll be just fine. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!

Hey Steamy, one thing we don't lack up here is humidity, so trust me when I say it drains you. Ok, now that I told you something you already knew- how about that 'brunette'? Hungry?

It was very humid yesterday and it always makes for the worst runs. No worries. We have plenty of time to SGM train. Just do what you can each week Amy :)
