Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

I put the boot back on today :(  !!  October 1st and I plan on wearing it for the month.  I need my foot better and this is the only way that it will get better.  It was hurting like it did before the doc this morning after my stationary bike ride.  The top of my foot is hurting and the tingling is worse than it has been for a month.  I shouldn't have gone on my run/hike the other day....I just thought it should be healed by now.  I am going to cut down on my Diet Pep and go and get more calcium pills. I already eat pretty clean and good (other than my addiction to Diet Pepi).  I have got to get better!!!!  I can't stand not running and hiking in this weather! :( :( :( :( !! BOO

Ahh...I know how you feel. As you know I just went out and bought a road bike and took my frustration out on that! Biking sure takes up a lot of time though.

Sorry again about the boot, but at least it's not and not in April. I hope having it a solid month is the key to healing right. Feel free to have a snack on me!

Agreed... Get better. ALso, a steady diet of Oreo cookies in milk will get you some serious calcium....

I know it's hard now, but you'll be glad when you're in beantown next year.

For some of us it takes more discipline to not run than it does to run. Good job... slacker :)

Really sorry to hear about that, but probably just a temporary setback. Injury recovery seems to be like training, it doesn't progress in a straight line. Thanks for supporting everybody else's running in the meantime, that is a hard thing to do when you can't get out yourself.

It really does suck with the perfect running weather not being able to get out there. Hang in there, I'm sending get well wishes your way :)

Steam...Where are you?

From Kelli on Fri, Oct 07, 2011 at 21:24:44 from 71.219.83.151

I KNOW what your problem is! It is the Diet Pepsi. If you would convert to the REAL drink (diet coke), all would be well!

Bummer that it is hurting so bad again. I am so sorry! Do they have any clue why it would still hurt? Does the doctor recommend living in the boot for life, or what?

Kelli...Diet Pep is my problem. I am sure it is leaching the calcium and minerals out of my bones. It is my only vice and I just can't give it up...believe me I have tried!

IJR...busy, busy week and it is just too depressing to get on here and see all of the fun you are having! :(

THanks Carina!

BUT if you eat enough ice cream it should more than make up for that!
