Short-Term Running Goals:

Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

Long-Term Running Goals:

QUALIFIED FOR BOSTON! April 16, 2011

Ran Boston on April 14, 2012!

Married, 40 year old, mother of four.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

I had a crazy, busy day! I didn't have much time to squeeze a run in.  I decided to run from my house up to the Bells Reservoir and back.  I RAN THE ENTIRE WAY! I did it for Jun (Craig).  I thought my heart was going to pound out of my chest before I got half way.  I got to the mid point which is flat and was able to get my heart rate down a bit before the second half.  The second half was much easier.  I ran back down and to my house, which wasn't quite 3 miles.  I then decided that I needed to at least do three.  Then four.  Then five...and at six my legs were hurting and I was waaaay over the time I had to run.  Needless to say, I still haven't showered since my run.  I figured it was more important to get a good run in today than look or smell good.  I am thinking the people around me this evening thought that was a bad idea! ha!  No longer Rice Krispies....just Stinky!

Nice one...that climb is a good one for sure! There are lots worse things than runner Stink.

Do you run with a heart monitor? I got in the habit of using one but I know some of the "real" runners frown on that. I'm sure if I didn't use one (especially on my recovery runs) I would always go to hard.

I noticed one of your goals is to qualify for Boston (then I see "Qualified!!" under your accomplishments. Is that refering to Boston?

NICE!!! I have no idea where that is, but I am sure it was hard. And if it was up and you ran the entire way, then you are now irritating me!!!!

Skinny and stinky, it is all good.

gdoc- I am sure it is an easy climb for you! :)

I just run - I qualified for Boston at the Salt Lake Marathon in April. It was a miracle because I just decided to do the race two months earlier. I was in good shape, but not Boston shape and somehow I pulled it off!

Kell - let's do a run at the pool soon!

So the BIG question....Are you going in 2012?

From Steam8 on Wed, Jun 08, 2011 at 00:38:41 from 166.70.55.77

Of course I am going! Well...I actually don't know if I will get in. I am the last group to be able to register and it sells out fast. I was 4 seconds away from being 5 minutes under the qualifying time and if I would have known that I would have pushed it harder at the end. If I would have been 5 minutes under, I would have a better chance of getting in. I am hoping people don't want to go this year! :)

Duh...I didn't read your profile very well did I!

Well, belated congradulations!

I tried to qualify on May 1st in Oklahoma City but failed due to a bone spur that locked my knee after 21.5 miles. I finished the race but fell short on time. I may go to TOU to try and qualify on Sep.17. :-)
