Short-Term Running Goals:

Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

Long-Term Running Goals:

QUALIFIED FOR BOSTON! April 16, 2011

Ran Boston on April 14, 2012!

Personal:

Married, 40 year old, mother of four.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

Ran 5 around my Little Cottonwood loop!  It felt so good to be able to run my favorite route again.  I didn't think I would make the last .5 uphill with the wind blowing on me...but I did it.  My legs are worn out and feeling so tired and I am loving that familiar feeling.  Still feel like a hunk of crud! ha!

WooHoo ... 5 is no small chunk of change after a long layoff ... they will feel easy before you know it! Hoping the healing continues progressing!

That's okay...I often feel like a "hunk of crud" after my good run days and my bad run days :-)

You should go over to TexasLindsey's blog and look at her race entry for Saturday. She has been having pain on the top of her foot and found someone who gave her some massage tip that really helped...You might ask her what it is, it might help you with your foot.

Congratulations, you will be back to your regular self in no time. (I almost said "old self", but that would be me, not you.)
