Short-Term Running Goals:

Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

Long-Term Running Goals:

QUALIFIED FOR BOSTON! April 16, 2011

Ran Boston on April 14, 2012!

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

Ran 11.5 with my 21 yr old nephew.  I was pathetically slow, but so was my nephew Michael.  We haven't been on a run together since the marathon 8 weeks ago.  This is the farthest I have ran since April 16th...sad! I am so out of shape it is depressing!  We had a good time laughing at ourselves since just about everyone out running was passing us!

Nice run.... it's awesome that you got the miles in and laughed along the way!

Laughed and cried all the way -- sad, sad shape! How is it that it takes so long to get in good shape but only a few weeks of getting really out of shape? No Likey!

Im impressed you got that many miles with the back! Back pain is one way to shut my miles down. I know we seem to lose our fitness fast, but I am sure you will bounce back quickly.

Can totally relate to the feeling out of shape bit... but you are definitely on your way back (no pun intended). Keep up the good work, esp. the having fun part. :)
