Short-Term Running Goals:

Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

Long-Term Running Goals:

QUALIFIED FOR BOSTON! April 16, 2011

Ran Boston on April 14, 2012!

Personal:

Married, 40 year old, mother of four.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

No running today.  I will be cleaning and packing all day.  I am heading up to my parents cabin in Woodland.  My nephew and I will be running 18 tomorrow.  We are running from Woodland to Kamas and around until we hit 18.  It is a pretty run along the Provo River.

One of my friends just gave me some pics from Bryce Canyon. I thought I would add them to show the before and after look.

 BEFORE

Bryce Canyon start.  5:20 a.m. It was in the 40s.  It was really cold!

 Finished!

 Chip cutting

AFTER (yikes!)

Siiiiick!!  I was about to barf!

Susanna Lew (Smooth)  She sent me a message letting me know she was running the half and sent me her number.  I forgot to put it in my phone before we left town.  I looked for her EVERYWHERE at the start and couldn't find her.  After I finished, I went to watch all the runners sprinting towards the finish and I saw her.  I think she came in at 1:48 and PRed.  She came in 3rd in her age group!!! :)  It was so fun to meet her and her husband.  Her husband is one of the most wonderful and supportive spouses!

These are my friends.  Bruce ran the 5K and Terri is my hubs old girlfriend and now one of my best friends! ha!

You probably didn't see Smooth because she's so tiny.

It's cool to have good pictures to remember. At the end of my races I wouldn't be so photogenic :-) I think I'm in more agony :-(

You look soooo tired :)

Hey, Julie Esplin is on the blog. I love her. If I see her at a race, I stay close by because she can bust it out.

Great pics, I love when they catch you and you don't even know its coming. I am jealous of the 40 degrees!

From SlowJoe on Fri, Jul 29, 2011 at 10:12:44 from 74.196.65.182

Those are great race pictures. I look just as miserable at the end of the race except I am usually covered in saliva, sweat, snot and gatorade as well.

I was trying to describe how I felt and looked at the end of a race but couldn’t do it as eloquently as Slow Joe did :-)

SO sorry I was hiding in the warmth of my car at the start! Hehe! But amazingly AmberG not looking but found me! Ha!!!

That was such a FUN race! The best part was finally meeting you in person at the finish! Seriously, you are as cute and darling in picture as in person! I just love everything about you!!!

Have a marvelous time at your parent's cabin and a WONDERFUL 18 miler with your nephew along the Provo River! I am jealous! It's gonna be beautiful in the canyons! :) :)
