Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

My sis and I went up the street to Granite Quarry and headed up Little Cottonwood Trail.  We found out the trail is closed due to flooding and risk of a bridge that is about to be washed away by the river.  We ran into a park ranger that told us we could go up as far as the bridge, but to not cross.  We didn't cross the bridge, but headed up on the other side of the river on the pipeline.  We saw one deer, one snake and racoon prints.  I wish we could have gone farther.

The river was amazing. You can't really see how it was spraying everywhere.

The racoon prints and my 5ft 10in sis.

I'm sure you know by now it's OK to ignore Burt. That scenery looks just like mine. Not.

Joe & Flat,

I think we would be embarrassed to post any picture from Texas :-( I can almost smell the fresh air and feel the cool breeze.

Ahhhhhh.....!

Thanks for sharing Steam!

Looks like a wonderful run! How fun, especially being able to do it with your sister. Jealous!

Hey all you Texas folk, I lived in Houston! We lived right by the Astrodome, train tracks, crack houses and could see prostitutes out walking from our apartment window! We flew in and had one day to find an apartment that was by the medical center and we didn't know what we were doing.

Houston was rated the most polluted city in America the year we lived there. I remember going out for runs and having people keep asking me for money...no joke! I remember having 3 people stop me on a 4 mile run. I remember the last time, I wasn't nice and yelled at the person, "do you think I take money with me on a run?"...I know not nice!

Sounds about right... I grew up in Houston (all 18 yrs of childhood), although we lived a few miles toward downtown, in the Montrose area. Do you know much about Montrose? Let's just say I have certain images in my head that won't go away anytime soon! Most of Texas is not like that though, I promise.

Amy, what in the world are those open-toed yellow shoes you're wearing?

From Steam8 on Thu, Jun 09, 2011 at 14:03:02 from 166.70.55.77

Burt-that is more like VEGASS!

Joe-That made me laugh! I know the Montrose area. I actually miss Houston, but not enough to live there again. Luckily, we were only there for a year.

Burt-They are my cute running sandals. You can borrow them next time you come to Utah! :)

Burt - uh, yeah, sure, that's what I mean. the art car parade is one of the more innocent parades that go through Montrose.
