Short-Term Running Goals:

Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

Ran Boston on April 14, 2012!

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

I rode the bike for a little over an hour.  My knee was fine, but my hip was hurting.  Seriously....If it is not one thing it is another!  I see an orthopedic surgeon on Friday to see about my knee that has hurt since the marathon and my hip that has been hurting for 8 months. Yippee!

On a different topic...I have been trying to memorize the presidents and one interesting thing about each of them. While I was walking around Costco yesterday I saw a movie series by HBO on John Adams, so I started watching that while I peddled away on my bike.  I loved it.  Can't wait to see more.  I am going to make myself only watch it while I am in my dreaded basement on some machine...I hope that will motivate me since I can't go outside for a run!

You should get the book Presidents and Prophets. Its pretty cool to see the simularities in leadership. Nice biking for ya! I did 18 miles on the old road bike and it felt good.

I love that you recorded your distance as 0.01 miles. That like what? 50 ft.

Good luck at the Doc.

+ 1 re the cross-training. Good job! What kind of bike are you on? I just bought a tri bike on Saturday - woot! (now I need to do a triathlon... lol)

Have you tried water running to see if you can do that pain-free? It's a great way to keep up the running conditioning... :)
