Short-Term Running Goals:

Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

Long-Term Running Goals:

QUALIFIED FOR BOSTON! April 16, 2011

Ran Boston on April 14, 2012!

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

I'm sooooo excited!  I will be running Boston in April! Yippeeee!  I have been waiting and waiting.  We were on our way back from southern Utah and a friend of mine texted that has been waiting to hear too.  She is 40 and ran it in 3:46 and she needed 3:50.  I needed 3:45 and came in at 3:41, so we were both about the same qualifying time.  She got an email.  I still haven't got an email but I am on the entrant list!  The only turned away about 2000 qualifiers.....I have been feeling sad for them all day.....but happy for me!

Foot is still bothering me!  I don't know if I should just throw the boot back on for 2 weeks or what?  I really want to get better.  My fat butt is putting too much pressure on these bones of mine. I slowly keep gaining..dang it!

Awesome ... Congrats!! If the boot helps, put it in! You have a month to get it fully healed, then you still have 6 months to ramp up for Boston! Hope to see you there!!

Put the boot back on. That way, when people ask "what did you do to your foot" you can then use that conversation to tell them all about your BQ and Boston entry. This strategy will defiantly get you pumped up. Ahhh..And maybe you can also tell them you need sponsors :-) Good way to pay for your trip! Face it, you're practically a celebrity NOW!!!
