Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

Beautiful, beautiful day in Salt Lake....just couldn't be any better of a day!  Kickboxing with my 4 yr old in the morning, then after dropping him off at preschool I couldn't resist to run again today.  Ran 4 around Little Cottonwood and headed up to Bells Canyon Reservoir.  There are just no words as to how amazing it was out there today.  View of the whole Salt Lake Valley and the view of the mountains and Bells reservoir....soul warming!

On my way up the Bells Canyon I had a memory flashback of running the trail with a neighbor two summers ago.  She was training for the St. George Marathon (I didn't get int that year) and I had just finished my second marathon.  I ran my first marathon in 4:16, second in 4:04.  I really wanted to get under 4 for my second marathon and I ran as hard as I could and just had no steam at the finish.  She knew all of this and told me that anyone can run a marathon, but someone that can run a marathon in under 4...now that was something!  I can still remember that I couldn't believe she could say that to me after knowing that I had just run a 4:04.  Some people!  She did run the St. George and she ran it in 4:45.  She told me that she just didn't really train there at the end and she didn't even push herself and so she was amazed that she ran it in 4:45 because it wan't even difficult for her.   Why, do I still think of that every time I see her? ha!!  I am soooooooo immature!  Church this week was all on loving, serving and forgiving.  I need to do some service this week! :)

My thoughts...anyone that can run a marathon in any amount of time....that is something!

I forgot...another great part of my day... I got honked at by a motorcycle guy! ha!  Now when you are getting close to 40 and have had 4 kids and are wearing tights and you get honked at, that is always a good day! YEEEEEHOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Your neighbor sounds like my friend's brother. My friend told him about me qualifying for Boston last year and his first response was asking me "They adjust that for age don't they?"

Funny. I got honked at the other day, but it was followed by a hand signal. I think it was supposed to be a different message than the one you got.

You deserve to be honked at! You're gorgeous :)
