Short-Term Running Goals:

Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

Long-Term Running Goals:

QUALIFIED FOR BOSTON! April 16, 2011

Ran Boston on April 14, 2012!

Married, 40 year old, mother of four.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

I ran 2 miles on the treadmill this morning before the MRI just so that it would be hurting when I went it.  The MRI showed that the micro-fracture has failed.  I am sad beyond words.  I go in next week to meet with my orthopedic surgeon.  He is suppose to be the best around.  Tiger Woods even had him operate on him.  It didn't do me any good.  Surgery again. :(

Okay...so how is life treating you now a few months later?!? knee pain?!? no pain?!? successful surgery?!? I need an update :) As I head to Boston this year you are in my thoughts!!!

Was thinking about your situation this Boston time of year. Any prospects for running at this point? I totally sympathize. I have a doctor right now who is advising me not to try to run competitively any more; back issues in my case. I am doing it anyway -- fat and slow after doing nothing for 3 months, but at least running. But nonetheless waiting for the other shoe to fall. Best of luck, and keep us updated.
