Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

5K with three of my kids and two nephew on Saturday morning at my son's middle school.  My 4 year old ran almost the entire way! It was the cutest thing I have ever seen! It kept bringing tears to my eyes.  He ran so hard and was trying so hard to win.  He only sat in the stroller on 3 hills and that is because I made him.  My 7 year old girl ran her heart out too.  It was so much fun!  My baby and my little girl came in before my 13 year old did!  He was too busy walking with some of the cute girls, but kicked it in to gear when one of his friends passed by him.  My two nephews were troopers too! Such a great day!  Great that my knee and hip didn't hurt at all too!

Went home and peddled away on my bike for an hour and used my new Concept 2 rower that I am in love with right now.

Went to an orthopedic surgeon on Friday and he said that I have Right knee IT Band Syndrome and Right Trochanteric Bursitis....YIPPEE!  Six weeks of PT and no running....but since I ran on Sat and no pain, I am thinking it must not be that serious??!!!

Just got news that they are FINALLY delivering the elliptical and setting it up!  They were suppose to come last week....then yesterday....we'll see if they actually show up! Super excited!

Sounds like a fun time! My family did a 5K together for Thanksgiving and we had a blast.

ITB stuff is no fun, I dealt with that a bunch last year, changed up my form (to a midfoot strike) and haven't had an issue since. I guess it's about finding the right thing for you that works!

Oh, if you lost a few of those 500 lbs, that might help too ;)

Family races are the best! Good luck with the PT. Hopefully not a six week layoff.

Oh dear....I wouldn't run if the Doc told you not to. I'd wait at least 3 weeks. Your body needs to heal silly gal! :)

Wow, you have been eating some serious brownies or something!

SO...you are going to run or NOT for 6 weeks???

Sounds like you have a nice little gym in your basement. I am jealous, i have to drive to work out and it just adds time on to the already busy day!

TAKE CARE!!!!! We want you well for summer St George training.

OH, and congrats to your kids. Family 5k's are so fun. I am very impressed with the 4 year old (and not at all surprised about the flirty teenager!)

Better than having Burtitis.

I hope your PT goes well.

4 year olds are awesome! They have so much energy! My grandson is 4 and he's super excited about doing his first race this summer.

4 year olds are so much fun! I am loving every second of him. He has been asking when he can do another 5K. We are doing another one in June with my entire extended family in southern Utah. Should be fun. I hope I can waddle around through the 5K by then !
